Great Girls in Michigan History

A series of sketches that chronicle the well-known – and lesser-known – young women of Michigan who achieved great things before the age of 20. No “dry” history, it’s written in engaging prose and complete with illustrations of each girl, along with suggestions for further reading. Covers a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and careers, from Great Lakes diver Fannie Baker of the late 1800s to silver screen star Joan Leslie to contemporary violin virtuoso Regina Carter. While geared toward elementary-age children, it’s interesting book for readers of any age. Every Michigan girl of should own a copy!
