really liked it

** spoiler alert ** This book just made me feel frustrated at how MEAN people can be! It made my hurt hurt, as I thought of many of the reasons people are mean is because someone maybe is being mean to them.

Published in 2009, I think this realistic fiction is a VERY realistic glimpse of bullying at the middle school level.

I would have given it 5 stars, but something about the ending made me only rate it at 4 stars. I think my internal frustration with bullying made me want the bullies to get in more trouble than they did. I know it isn't always realistic that bullies get caught, and I am guessing Preller wanted this story to be as realistic as possible, so he wrote the ending the way that it usually goes - the protagonist, Eric, is no longer hanging out Griffin, but Griffin has not yet completely been caught, is not yet being helped work through his anger [that he takes out on others] regarding his life situation.

I am considering reading it aloud to my advisory.
