it was amazing
bookshelves: historical-fiction

What a great story. I had never heard of Madame Dorion, although I have read and studied Pacific Northwest history for years. The story is a set of journal entries pieced together to create a vivid picture of what traveling from the Missouri to the mouth of the Columbia would have been like in the early 19th century. Ms. Good also took the time to share some history before and after showing where she got her information, how she put it all together, as well as some of the liberties she took in filling in the gaps. I appreciate that. The writing is clear, simple and very easy to read.

Marie Dorion was courageous and strong, and persevered through challenges and hardships that I cannot even imagine. She is a woman that I now look up to. Thank you, Ms. Good, for telling Marie's story.
