it was amazing

Completely fabulous. Dickens' writing is witty, smart, unexpectedly funny, and then by turns beautiful and horrifying. Such great images: the rising sea, the golden thread, La Guillotine, St. Antoine, the wine barrel, the knitting, oh the terrible knitting! Truly one of the best books of our language.
