Read from October 12 to 16, 2010

The Lost Hero is the story of three new half-bloods: Jason, Piper, and Leo. The three are students at a wilderness boarding school for troubled teens, only Jason doesn't remember anything before the moment the story begins. Piper is Jason's girlfriend, and Leo is his best friend, and they've known him for months, so he must be who they say he is, right? Before they can unravel this mystery, however, they're attacked by a storm that seems intent on killing just the three of them, and their teacher suddenly has hooves.

To say anything else about the plot would reveal some very excellent surprises, and one of the great joys of this book is trying to guess where the story is going. Fans should be reassured that old favorites return, and Riordan does an excellent job of including them in the story while still making this a new series. I can't wait for the next book, and I love knowing that there's a new Camp Half-Blood book each fall for the next several years. Percy Jackson fans will not be disappointed by this new series.
