** spoiler alert ** Is it October yet? I'm really liking the style of these books. The art definitely adds to the story, but the story itself is engaging and the characters are pretty well-written. Alek still makes stupid mistakes and can't pretend to be a "commoner" if it kills him, and Deryn's starting to let her emotions get the best of her. Turkey seemed like a really cool place in this envisioned Clanker vs. Darwinist world. Although I did find it extremely sad that after all that mysterious build-up the egg storyline just sort of ended...(in a really horrible way). Also, this Turkey seemed way cooler than the one that was in Black Powder War. Considering this is a middle book in a trilogy, Westerfeld does a really good job of continuing some plot points from Leviathan but having a completely separate and self-contained storyline. Kudos for not ending it on a crazy cliffhanger.
