I didn't like this a lot. You have to hear me out, though! McEwan proved himself as an amazing writer at the beginning. His characterization, the things he noticed, his style of writing. I loved it all. He is a great writer, as I said. But the ending was a complete disappointment and I felt that I, as a reader, had been cheated out of a more satisfying ending. It seemed at though he had no idea how to end his story and so he just did--and it made me hate the book. I felt like it was a waste of time to have read it, although it wasn't entirely. But shouldn't the ending be more enjoyable than that? The most important part of a book for a writer, a part from the beginning, is the ending. Without a good ending, you upset your readers. McEwan upset me.
