This one was interesting for the history lesson; I knew nothing of Istanbul and the Ottoman empire. I am surprised that this book won the Edgar award for best novel last year however, because apart from the interesting setting, and eunuch-as-main-character convention, I didn't think it was much of a thriller, or even that great a mystery.
