it was ok
bookshelves: mystery

Frankly I didn't care much for this one. The first part was fairly slow moving, although the characters were interesting,as is always the case with Thompson. There were some really interesting sections as well, particularly the story within a story of the author the main character met while hitchhiking. However, although I appreciated the surreality of the ending, I didn't really understand it. I guess the guy is suffering from multiple personalities but that really undermines much of what has gone before. It's like a twist ending, but those work best at short story length.
