really liked it

Still obsessively focusing on the fat-girl-as-smartest-girl-in-the-room thing, one wishes Ms. Weiner would finally go on Weight Watchers so she could grow out of it. Her main character is more likely than not a smart (her characters will tell you so, repeatedly), youngish career woman who aspires to a job with with a personal assistant as a perk, but the same protagonists are not smart enough to lose that 50 lbs that consistently alters their entire world view. (Oh, and she has serious daddy issues!)

Other than that, one damn fine author. Solid stories, fine prose. Great windows into the contemporary human condition for the 2000s, or the oughts, whatever you call them.

I do look forward to more from this talented survivor of the chick lit glut. I know that she can demonstrate a breezy style, but I honestly believe she is poised to be this 30s generation's John Updike, at least to female readers.
