did not like it

I am reminded again that just because a book is a "classic" doesn't mean that it's good. Journey to the Centre of the Earth had everything I feared it would have, knowing that it was science fiction published in 1864: a ridiculous plot, tedious progression, fiercely two dimensional characters, silly and unbelievable dialogue, and a storyline that never seemed to have a point. The only reason I finished it was A) I was on a plane, and B) it was very short.

I guess I should give it credit for being a revolutionary starting point for a genre that would go on to bigger and better things, and I'm sure it seemed profoundly creative and innovative at the time, but seriously people: don't bother.
