really liked it
bookshelves: feminisms, gender

a lot of what is in this book may be common knowledge to readers, but Valenti's coversational style and comprehensive structuring make it a good read to reveal the interconnectedness of all aspects or manifestations of woman-hating in american culture. this book did a good job at explaining the raunchyness in the media for me. shows how the culture of woman hating is tied to white-supremacist-capitalist-patriarchy. the chapter on men and masculinity was, i think, the one that touched me most because so often the fact that patriarchy hurts males is overlooked.
