Pygmy is in my opinion the most straight-forward of Palahniuk's books in terms of plot and yes, the end is quite predictible. And it is actually a story of love... But it's "all the rest" that makes it actually quite interesting. The subversive use of language, the indoctrination, the will to do whatever it takes to reach the goals planned... In the Czech edition there is a final word by Darek Šmíd reminding us that sometimes everybody wants to do all the bad things - the beast inside us just sleeps, but it's still there...
