Four stars for the introduction by Mario Vargas Llosa and the novella "El Perseguidor", the two chunks of this volume I successfully finished. Seems students of Cortázar are supposed to take a stance about which is better -- his short stories? or his novels? -- and based on my limited encounters with this volume and with Rayuela, I vote short stories. When the graduate studies lighten a bit I hope to return to and finish this book. But now -- onto the next piece of assigned reading!
