it was ok

I'm genuinely not sure how I felt about this one. The idea (imaginary friends are real and there's an evil guy out there who eats them) has promise, and Emily Gravett's illustrations are FABULOUS, but overall it just didn't come together for me the way I wanted it to. It wasn't as spooky as I thought it could be (although there are a few moments, early on, that were terrifying), and I just wasn't very invested in the story. It ended on a truly touching note, and I will be really curious to see if kids enjoy reading it. To me it was too much of a mishmash--a weird combination of lighthearted and serious that never added up to a cohesive whole.
