really liked it
bookshelves: chick-lit, fiction, usa

After reading two so-so Steel books, I wasn't particularly excited about picking up this one. Thankfully, I was surprised with this one and found myself really enjoying it. It had that page turning quality, where I needed to find out what happened next. The plot follows three couples that want to have a baby but are struggling. I found myself genuinely caring about these characters and was getting emotional when tragedy hit. The book, in true chick-lit style gave us a happy ending which I was pleased about.

Two minor annoyances. I don't know much about the adoption system in America but I thought it was much harder to get a baby than this book made out. I'm pretty sure it takes a lot more than a phone call saying "We've found you a baby". The other annoyance is Steel using the same name twice in her book. Pilar's baby brother happens to be called Andrew, the same as a main character. This is just lazy on Steel's part.

Recommended to chick-lit fans.
