A riveting ride through the narrative of Islam. Ansary is not afraid to get blunt and reveals quite a few details that traditionalists may feel queasy about. But it is all done with an air of being as focussed on simply revealing the truth as much as possible. But of course Ansary's story telling powers work both ways. They keep you gripped on the pages of the book but also at the same time make you wonder about the authenticity of some of his inferences. To be taken with a pinch of salt i'd say. And you had best refer details revealed in this tome with other accounts of the history of the Middle Kingdom. But overall, i learned a lot from this
