Setting: A frontier town in Montana

Heroine: Bethany Silverton – short curvy red-head, the Reverend’s daughter, virgin

Hero: Hawk Chandler – a quarter Native American, dark hair, owner of the Circle Blue ranch, has a history of being spurned by a lady because of his savage blood

Villain: Vince Richards – wealthy ranch owner with dreams of becoming the governor of Montana, in his mid-30s, lusts after Bethany, wants access to the spring/water on Hawk’s ranch

Plot: Bethany made a wager with her friend that she could get Hawk to attend church. Hawk finds out about the bet and then makes a wager of his own: To get Bethany to agree to marry him. Meanwhile, Vince wants to get rid of Hawk and marry Bethany.

Review: The plot is based on the misunderstanding between the two lead characters who both secretly love each other but will not openly admit it. Once the characters finally come around and profess their love, the rest of the book is dedicated to the villain’s poor attempts to kill the hero and take the girl. This is a cute little romance with a good-guy type of hero and a strong heroine. All the main characters were likable (including the heroine’s parents and the friends of both hero/heroine), but the villain was pretty pathetic. Overall, this is a very average romance, no particular outlandish or memorable moments, but enjoyable nonetheless.
