4.5 stars Wow. I had a hard time putting this book down. It's a love story, wrapped in tragedy...during a horrible time in history. I couldn't stop reading because I really had no clue how it would end. There were unexpected twists and a roller coaster of emotions. Idk how people could say it was predictable- maybe I'm just slow. I didn't predict any of it. I've been thinking about this book all day, and re-reading parts, and pondering...
I also really love historical fiction when it introduces me to something in history I don't know much about, such as the Lebensborn organization in Germany. It led me to learn more about it. The more I learn, the more shocked and disgusted I am. :(
