it was amazing
bookshelves: african-diaspora, must-reads, political, poetry

Then the voice in your head silently tells / you to take your foot off your throat because just getting / along shouldn't be an ambition.

This book is amazing!

This is another book that is necessary to the fabric of America, and the world where anti-blackness and racism still reigns.

I would put this alongside Coates's "Between the World and Me." It is heavy, haunting, and beautiful. It will tear you apart and build you back up.

On a personal note: this book just transformed a manuscript I'm working on!
