A beautifully written book about a woman losing her husband to a sudden heart attack, and how one woman grieves.

I fully believe that because my mind works a lot like Didion's (unfortunately minus the writing talent) that I appreciated how she tried to cope - by intellectualizing, being superstitious, denial.

However depressing this subject matter sounds, it isn't. I found Didion's outlook ultimately uplifting, and truly a celebration of a life so far, not the mourning of what has passed.

But I was definitely in the minority at book club!

Zeke hmm...I may be willing to try it after reading your review. I've shied away from it because yes, it does sound depressing.
