The story started interesting: the world-building seemed ingenious, though it was depicted very superficially. Great idea for a full-length novel, but it didn’t work for a short story.

The erotic scene lacked intimacy or affection. I didn’t feel any connection between the characters, though their bonding was the key momentum of the plot, the whole point of the story: their bonding was to wake their elemental, connected power.
It was written that we could bring balance to the world when united in our fourth meeting. The warring nations, each led by their capital city, would be consumed by each element and war would end. Without war there would be only love.

Nice, utopian thought, but to no avail, as the story abruptly ended after the sex scene.
