I read this book years ago...probably 7 or 8 years ago now. I didn't remember much about it except that I liked it, and as I've held on to my copy over the years, I've always meant to reread it. I finally did...what took me so long???

I loved this book. It's charming and funny and hopeful while touching on darker parts of history and telling about a part of WWII that doesn't get much attention. I love the characters and the plot and the location and the writing style...just the whole thing in general.

It feels like such an absorbing story that I'm continually surprised by how short it is. And now I'm even more excited for the movie. (I don't have Netflix streaming. If it doesn't come out in theaters or on DVD, I'm going to be so disappointed.)
