Apparently, this is an installment in a series of books about a near-superhuman CIA operative who saves the world at every turn. I haven't read any of the others, nor other works by this author. Taken on its own merit, I found this book to be rather uneven. Some passages were exciting, smart, and well-written. Others were plodding and poorly edited. Overall, it was fun to read about espionage and intrigue in the middle east. To boot, the author's commentary on various cultural and religious shortcomings was not without merit.
