it was amazing

Forget Jane Austen. Heyer is a gem of a writer and I am devouring her novels! She is an expert study of human nature and full--I mean full!--of unexpected wit. I laugh out loud constantly, which is a real rarity. This one is about a hilariously dysfunctional noble family whose heir has suddenly died and a complete stranger from Yorkshire finds himself the unexpected heir of this shambled estate. Given the hostile welcome he receives and constant degrading remarks, he pretends to be an idiot to egg them on.

First-rate fun. And the absurd "Heyer moment" at the end will tickle and leave you giggling.
