The idea of the book was cooler than the actual execution.
I thought it would be really interesting to read a book about a girl who finds out (the hard way) that she's a siren, but Hubbard's story didn't quite meet my expectations.

There were quite a few things I would have like to seen explored a bit more, but the threads of those plot lines were just dropped in favor of the romance. (view spoiler) So, yeah, too many loose end for my taste.

It's not unreadable, it kept my attention, and it's a stand-alone novel (which is worth brownie points, in my book).
So if you're desperate to read a YA about a siren, then go ahead and give this a shot. Just don't expect all of your questions to be answered, and you should be fine.
