Paine's pamphlet is a very important piece of the history of the United States. It helped sway the continental delegates from their attempts to reconcile with England into a revolutionary frame of mind. Clearly written, succinctly put and forgoing the usual embellishments the writers of the Enlightenment used, the pamphlet as a huge success, spreading like wildfire across the colonies. Declaration of Independence reflect some of that spirit. It is well worth reading not only for historical interest but also to reflect upon the ideas and sentiments of the American Colonies as captured by Paine.
