I couldn’t put down this sexy slice of modern Indian life, narrated in first person by Babyji, as she is fondly called by one of her numerous lovers: her servant. Seducing her is only one of the many ways in which this rebellious high school student defies traditional Indian mores. She also seduces an older divorcee she befriends, who she nicknames Indian after her motherland, a classmate, Sheela, who is one of the most popular and sought after girls, and her best friend’s married father, who she consistently avoids despite his numerous attempts at tempting her. That her best friend is a boy is also one of the taboo ways in which our heroine snubs her nose at the outdated patriarchy of her society. She is so, so delightful and this novel is a fast and charming but highly stimulating and erotic read.
