I did not like this book as much as people lead me to believe I would.

I did not connect to any of the characters and quite frankly that's a big problem for me a s reader when a work fails to do this for me. It has nothing to do with the character being a Space Marine or Not-A-Space-Marine, it just has to do with the idea that I need to feel connected to a work from the get go.

I barely remember anything from this book, apart from the Bastille battle scene which is the highlight of the book. To Dickens' credit I did not see it coming at all - given that I went into this book cold knowing nothing about what the book was actually about or its significance in English literature.

Some parts were well written, other parts clunked for me. Three stars. Meh.
