it was amazing

** spoiler alert ** I read this book after having read the True Game, Mavin Manyshaped and Jinian series and wow, is it different!
I loved the books from the True Game world but Grass could have been written by a different author, the styles are so different.
Having said that, I still loved this book, but in a different way. All the different threads of the story engrossed me, from the fascinating planet and the beauty of all the different grasses, through the enigmatic Hunt, the mystery of the plague and the political machinations and religious mania of the members of Sanctity.
The story of the death of the mother from the plague and the verbalisation of her suffering through the parrot is an image that will stay with me for a long time, it was so moving and so profound!
An amazing book with so may levels and layers, totally absorbing and a fascinating read.
