really liked it

An enjoyable, fast-paced story full of twists and turns. The depth and variety of characters is this book's strength. Reminded me of both Sons of Anarchy (for the motorcycle club politics) and Orange is the New Black (for the prison politics). It's not, however, a book aimed solely at the hardcore crowd. Quite the contrary. In spite of its intense plot, the author weaves beautiful bits of whimsical Canadianna into the narrative. Anyone who has spent time in a small-town rink will relate to this: ". . . he thought of Kathy, sitting on the rink's old wooden benches that smelled vaguely of moisture and forgotten farts . . ." Well-crafted and well-written story. Definitely a thumbs-up.
