it was amazing
bookshelves: fantasy, young-adult

I read this book so many years ago that I honestly can't remember the details that well, but I do remember that it was definitely one of the books that had the greatest impact on me growing up. I read a ton of books, but this one always stuck with me.

It's a much darker novel than many of Lloyd Alexander's other books, but the powerful way he dealt with harshness and violence of war opened my adolescent eyes to the capacity for novels to deal with serious topics.
