An adorable story for young girls.
It's a story about love, in an untraditional sense, about friendships, and remaining true to who you are. I think the love Anne has for her adopted care takers, can teach gratefulness.
I appreciate that the end of the book involves a wiser Anne, reflecting on the ideas she held as a girl, and explaining why she might feel differently about them as she has grown closer to an adult. But she also validates her actions in childhood, saying that they felt right at the time, and that she knows better now, but she enforces that the choices a little girl makes can be good ones, even if they weren't the best ones.
