it was amazing

Really great book. Lays out the steps clearly and concisely to teach your child to read. Tells the teacher exactly what to say in each lesson, which is nice, but initially it made teaching feel a bit robotic and boring.

My SIL has used the book and taught her 3 oldest daughters to read, starting at about 3.5. And the research behind it seems legit.

I started this book with my almost 3yr old and although he learned a lot, the exact lessons were too structured. After about 12 frustrating lessons I switched to using the concepts the book teaches in play based activities (rhyming, practicing " say it fast/slow", practicing the sounds and combining the sounds, etc). This type of learning was way more appropriate for my son at that age, but had I started later the structure of the book may have been great.

Would recommend the book to anyone wanting to teach their child to read.
