it was amazing

Wow! Steampunk for teens! Scott Westerfeld is a very popular author with teens and this book will make the reader join their ranks. I enjoyed it so much that I was glad when I realized about two thirds of the way through that there was no way the story would end by the end of the book-I will be looking forward to the further adventures of the main characters. In an alternate pre great war Europe the Clankers (Germans and their allies) and the Darwinists (Brits and their allies) are drifting towards war. Young Darwinist teen Deryn has disguised herself as a boy so she can follow her dream of serving in the British Air Force on the Leviathan. The Leviathan is a huge airship whicn is a cross between a giant blimp and a living whale (the Darwinists have other strange inventions, also part living animal.) The parents of Clanker Prince Alek are assassinated and he must flee for his life in one of their techno, armored vehicles. A mysterious scientist sets out from London to Istanbul on a vital secret mission...Near a hidden fortress in the Alps, their paths cross...
Many fabulous illustrations are included!
