Look, 3 stars is probably being overly mean. The only reason it's not higher is coz Storm Front - which garnered 4 stars - was more enjoyable, and I didn't think this outing really compared to the former.

Everyone's told me Fool Moon is the weakest book thus far, so I consider myself over the rough part. Mind you, this isn't a rough part that's on the level of something frustratingly annoying like A Feast for Crows. I feel like Butcher was still coming into his own as a writer with this one; the sawdust of Storm Front isn't quite swept off, but it's getting there. The ending was a bit brief and the grand plan of the big bad a little too reliant on convenience (and pretty much the same plot as the first, with a warlock swapped out for werewolves).

But y'know, as sophomore efforts go, I've definitely read worse. Let's hope Grave Peril is as good as I've heard.
