it was amazing
bookshelves: adult-fiction

Wonderful book, kept me reading until I finished it at 1am. A must read about a young man who has unwillingly become king to serve the woman he loves, the Queen and to unite their countries in the face of the encroaching Mede empire.

Eugenides is one of the best drawn characters I've ever read, and I think I'm half in love with him. He is so witty and cunning, and so very smart and kind, and reminds me quite a bit of Captain Jack Sparrow, but less piratey. Well, he does have a hook, so maybe not less piratey.

Clean read, no profanity or anything, really, except some sword fights, and it's not very gruesome. I'd suggest for ages 15 and up because you have to really pay attention to what happens, both to get the jokes and to understand the scheming going on, but younger thoughtful readers would like it too.
