bookshelves: diary-letter-format, historic

This is the type of book that cannot possibly be appreciated by the casual reader. It's the correspondence between a writer in New York City and a secondhand bookshop in London. Their letters are mostly about books.

I think that someone interested in the old types of books mentioned here -- Austen, Shakespeare, disgust! -- would get more out of it, but I still liked reading the letters. Helene is rather amusing. I always like to study actual dialogue, real letters and diaries and such, in hopes of making my fiction more realistic.

It only took me a couple hours to read. It's all light stuff, nothing really deep to sink into. But I think it was worth it.
