it was ok
bookshelves: mystery, did-not-finish

I was drawn to this book because of the charming cover and the premise (this is 5th in the series about a crime reporter for the Daring Detective newspaper in the 50s who solves murders) but it was just a little too cutesy with the 50s-speak for my taste. It might've been my mood, but the characters didn't really sparkle for me and I lost interest about 80 pages in (I also put it down to read a few other things about 3 weeks ago, and that rarely ends well). Cozy mysteries aren't usually my thing, and I'm not sure this was one of the better ones. I wanted to like it more than I did. 2.5 stars.
