it was ok
bookshelves: contemporary-fiction

I can’t give Toni Morrison less than two stars. I just can’t. But I didn’t like this book, not at all. Morrison’s strong point has never been plot. It has been complex characters and beautiful writing. But both failed her here. Not only was this book really confusing (more confusing than usual) but the characters felt like repeats of ones I’ve already read about in her other novels. And there were no breathlessly beautifully written passages. It was all just so...muddled. I guess it’s reassuring to know that even an author of Morrison’s calibre can produce a less than stellar novel.
