really liked it

Great book, but I'm glad I got this as an audiobook. It appears that James McBride has a certain writing style that can be wearing if you are reading it. You get tired of reading or hearing the same phrases and information over and over again. Beyond that, I believe this was a beautiful story. It made me reflect on my childhood and the identity issues that I faced growing up in a multiracial and multicultural family. I also thought about my grandmom a lot, and many of the questions that were never answered. I highly recommend this book as mother and son share their journeys in hiding and finding their identities.
