** spoiler alert ** This is a beautiful and lovely novel.

I wasn't sure at the beginning if I would like it, as it has duel narrators, one of whom is a unhappy 12 year old. But the writing honestly presented the characters as they faced their challenges and learned to accept both the sorrows and joys of life.

There are passages in the novel that describe those moments that make life perfectly. There are passages that made me laugh out loud. There are passages that made me cry.

I could tell from the beginning that the novel would ultimately end on a positive note, and though that would usually irk me, it worked for the best here. It just took longer than I wanted it to in getting there.

If you have a chance to read this novel, take it.
