Mara is an Egyptian slave but through her ingenuity she has the chance to change her fate and maybe even the fate of Egypt.

My friends were all reading this so I did as well. Then lo and behold it's a childhood favorite of my cousins as well. I guess I missed it, it was cute and fun. All the elements of a good juvenile girly book-intrigue, suspense, strong female heroine and romance! There wasn't enough kissing though :).

One thing I particularly liked was that female protagonist actually realized she was strong without needing to discover it through others-refreshing and nice.

Amie where'd you get your copy? I guess the library doesn't have it.

Emily I borrowed it from a girl who moved. Sorry!
