I just didn't like Ruby as much in this book. That's one of E. Lockhart's strengths as an author - she creates characters whose narration leaves you feeling sympathetic but not always in agreement with their actions and what they do. In this book, though, it frustrated me since there have been three previous novels in which Ruby learns the same lesson over and over again. It's a hard lesson, admittedly, about needing to put herself at the center of her own life, and to communicate clearly about what she wants. But this felt like a retread, and I didn't like what happened with any of the other characters. My favorite was sent away to Paris, while the others became unbearable versions of themselves.
