it was ok
bookshelves: ya, sci-fi, dystopia, boys, middle-grade

I thought this book was going to be better based on the reviews and blurbs on the back. Particularly disappointing was a blurb by Sherman Alexie, who said it was poetic at points. It wasn't. It was a fairly basic adventure story set in a post-apocalyptic gulf region. The characters were fairly flat as well, and the plot didn't flow all that well.
