On a Cyborg Planet is a quick novella set in Ms. Hackett's Phoenix Adventure series. Loosely tied to the third book (On a Rogue Planet), the story shares a couple of common characters; however, it is completely stand alone (with mild spoilers from the third book).

Overall, I enjoyed the story, which was fast-paced in both adventure and romance. Axton Saros, Prime of the planet of Centax and brother to hero from Rogue Planet, is desperate to get his planet and its citizens "back to normal" after the attempted coup robbed them of their security and several priceless artifacts. Working with Centax Security Commander Xenia Alexander, Axton hopes to find a priceless treasure before the reopening of the planet's museum. But Axton has more in mind than just treasure hunting - he wants to uncover the emotions hidden deep within Xenia, the very ones he knows aren't dead, but alive and waiting to be explored.

Due to the novella-length, the story moves very quickly and at times suffers a bit under the rapid execution. For example, in order to jump start the romance, Axton makes a move on Xenia; however, I felt that his initial flirtation was basically sexual harassment, and bothered me a bit. However, once things started picking up, the story moved forward fairly seamlessly. The entire book takes place in only two days - not much time to develop characters and give the story the depth I would have liked to read. With that said, On a Cyborg Planet is an enjoyable and fun sci-fi romance.
