Still holds up, I am impressed at the character development of both Helva and the various people she interacts with during her adventures. I didn't remember it being so complex or perhaps I just missed some of the undertones of depression and manipulation when I read it decades ago. The romance is also good. After reading Linea Sinclair's stuff, I'd say that Anne McCaffery is still one of the best scifi romance writers. It's not always great, but she's consistent and solid and the characters have interesting quirks.
