An interesting but disturbing book. This was a recommended read and it shocked me how deeply angry this slim tome turned out to be. The book is by turns amusuing, educational...but most of all bleak...a study of how we white skins have wrecked every place we've visited. Though this is true, British colonial rule ended in Antigua many years ago, so local leaders and residents must shoulder some responsibility for the lack of a library and schools that look like latrines. "A Small Place" is a provocative, searing memoir meant to amuse...but also punch us in the face.
