I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed others by this author. The setting on a remote Greek Isle was wonderful and a perfect book to read on a hot summer evening! The characters were all well developed and the paths that lead them to meet on this island were all differnt but with a common theme to find a retreat from their lives. The most interesting character of all for me was Vonni, an Irish woman who had lived the past 30+ years there in Greece and despite a very rough start had become an indispensible member of the community.

A couple things were distracting to me though -- the very improbable names of the Americans initially made me think this book was taking place in the 1950's instead of 2000's. The other was the frequent use of the word "companionably" -- which seemed odd on the first and all the subsequent times I encountered it here.
