really liked it

Camille Norland and her sister, Eden, are the daughters of a very wealthy man, who has made some enemies in his time. In order to protect them, he restricts them to the estate, and has hired a security firm to guard them full time. Nick Cassidy is the man in charge, and severely limits their activities. On one of his rare days off, Eden convinces the new agent filling in to take her shopping, and Camille decides to go along to try to keep her impulsive younger sister out of trouble.

But trouble finds them big time. As they are exiting the vehicle, they are surrounded by thugs, and Camille is taken captive. A Russian criminal named Zanov previously wanted to do business with Camille’s father, and he also wanted to marry her. He struck out on both counts, and has now decided to take Camille and force her into marriage, thereby forcing the business deal with her father as a condition of keeping her safe.

When Eden and Bobby, the substitute security guard, return to the estate and report what happened, Nick is furious. He and the girls’ father begin to try to piece together who took Camille, why, and where he’s taking her. All the time Nick has worked here, he’s been very attracted to Camille, but would not act on it since he was employed by her father. They begin to suspect Zanov, and track him down to an island near Cuba, where he is apparently planning his and Camille’s wedding – for tomorrow! Nick begins to devise a risky plan, which takes him alone to the island to try and rescue Camille.

There was a lot of action packed into this novella, and a lot of emotion, as well. Nick isn’t alone in his attraction. Camille has always wanted to further their relationship, but Nick would have no part of it. Now, he’s forced to confront his feelings as he rushes to save Camille from a forced marriage and a possible threat to her life. I very much enjoyed this exciting story, which also has a touching romance with a great hero and heroine. I heartily recommend this addition to the tales of the Decorah Security Agency.
